9:47 AM – P.O. T.J. Graziani was dispatched to Coleman School to investigate a report of suspected Marijuana which was recovered by a maintenance worker.  Investigation found that a “Zip-Loc” baggie containing a greenish brown vegetation was found near an entry/exit door.  The matter has been referred to the Detective Bureau.

10:55 PM –  During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Maple Avenue, P.O. T.J. Graziani arrested a passenger on drug related charges.  The subject, a 17-year-old Paterson male, was charged with possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and released to an adult family member.  The driver, a 20-year-old Paterson man, was issued a traffic summons for maintenance of lamps.

8:09 AM –  Glen Rock patrols, along with the Glen Rock Fire Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Police Services, responded to the Glen Rock section of the Saddle River County Park in response to a Haz-Mat spill.  A large quantity of hydraulic fluid entered a storm drain in Ridgewood following an early morning motor vehicle accident. The liquid found its way to the nearby Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and flowed south into Glen Rock before being noticed by a woman walking in the area. Fire departments from Ridgewood, Glen Rock, and Fair Lawn, along with a Fair Lawn Haz-Mat unit, worked in cooperation with Bergen County Haz-Mat to contain the spill.

4:06 AM –  A 45-year-old Paterson man was detained by Fair Lawn Police on an active criminal warrant issued by the Glen Rock Municipal Court.  Unable to post $1,000 bail, the man was taken into custody by P.O. Murray Yang and P.O. Sam Evans and transported to the Bergen County Jail.

9:01 AM –  P.O. Sarah Orsita was dispatched to a Glen Rock residence to investigate a report of an unresponsive male with an apparent head injury.  Upon arrival, she and P.O. Mc Gill were met by a woman who identified herself as the daughter of the homeowners.  She recounted that her brother had just recently moved in with her parents, who were not home.  She became concerned for his welfare and responded to check on him.

Officers were let into the kitchen where they found a 40-year-old man on the floor in a lifeless state.  Located next to the man was a hypodermic syringe, drug paraphernalia with fresh residue, two empty glassine baggies and well as two full bundles (20 baggies) of heroin and multiple vials of suspected steroids.

Valley Hospital Paramedics responded to the scene and made the formal pronouncement at 9:21AM in cooperation with the medical staff at the Valley Hospital ER.  Det. Trover along with an investigator from the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.   The matter was found to be an accidental heroin overdose; no evidence was found to support that any other individuals were present or involved.  The remains were removed to the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office pending final action by the Medical Examiner.

1:53 PM –  The manager of Bottle King Liquors on Prospect Street reported a shoplifting which had occurred 45 minutes in the past.  The manager provided video surveillance images of a woman taking a bottle of vodka valued at $20.62 without paying.  Det. Mike Trover immediately recognized the woman, a former Glen Rock resident with active warrants for her arrest.

At 3:45PM the subject, a 28-year-old woman now residing in Fair Lawn, was apprehended by Det. Trover with the assistance of Sgt. Frank Riggio while she was returning to her home.  The subject was transported to Glen Rock Police Headquarters where she was charged with one count of shoplifting.  Her boyfriend posted a total of $503 bail for active warrants issued by the Fair Lawn Municipal Court.  She was then released on her own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on June 13th, 2017 on the Glen Rock charges.

6:16 PM –  A resident on the 400 block of Ackerman Avenue reported leaving a dresser on his front lawn with a sign stating it was for sale in the amount of $100.  He left his home for about two hours. Upon returning he noticed that someone had taken the drawers from the dresser.

8:24 PM –  During the course of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Serafin Place, Det. Mike Trover arrested a Port Jervis NY couple.  The driver, a 39-year-old woman, had an active criminal warrant out of Franklin Boro with a bail amount of $1,000 and was found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe and several empty glassine baggies with heroin residue.  The passenger, a 41-year-old man, was found to have active criminal and traffic warrants out of Mahwah, Augusta and Paterson with a total bail amount of $ 1,127.

The woman was transported to police HQ where she was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was released on her own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on June 13th, 2017.  Franklin Boro Police were unable respond to take her into custody, therefore she was released with a new court date.

The man was also released on his own recognizance as none of the police agencies with warrants for him could respond to take him into custody.

06-04-2017

Just after 6AM reports were received concerning three vehicles which had been entered while parked overnight in driveways on the 300 block of Boulevard and on Hudson Place.  All the vehicles had been left unlocked. As of this time it is not known if any items were taken.  None of the residents reported seeing or hearing anything overnight and there are no known witnesses.

The Glen Rock Police Department would like to remind residents of the importance of locking the vehicles and to never leave valuables in plain sight.  The overwhelming majority of vehicles entered are unlocked.  Communities such as Glen Rock are targeted for these types of property crimes due to the abundance of unlocked vehicles.  The GRPD is currently has an active warrant for a fugitive from the Bronx who has been repeatedly arrested for entering unlocked vehicles in Glen Rock and other area communities.
