Glen Rock Detectives completed an investigation into a motor vehicle burglary that occurred at Hamilton School on 5/21/2017. Two credit cards and cash were removed from the victim’s wallet, which was left in an unlocked vehicle, and one of the credit cards was used at the CVS in Fair Lawn, NJ. Det. Mike Trover retrieved surveillance video from CVS of the suspect, who concealed his face with a white cloth while in the store, attempting to purchase gift cards with the stolen credit card. It was later determined that the both the HoHoKus and Fair Lawn Police Departments were investigating the same suspect for credit card fraud cases in their jurisdictions. HoHoKus PD had obtained various surveillance images of the suspect and his vehicle during their investigation. Further investigation led detectives to determine a specific make and model of the vehicle that the suspect was driving with specific markings and stickers on it and a suspect was developed. Through this investigation, Det. Trover charged John F. Clarke, 54, a resident of the Bronx, NY with burglary, theft, and credit card fraud offenses. Clarke has not been apprehended and is currently wanted on these charges. Clarke was previously arrested by Det. Calaski in 2013 for the same offense at the same location, where Clarke entered a vehicle at Hamilton School stealing credit cards and making fraudulent purchases.
NOTE: Photographs of the wanted subject are included with this press release.
