The Republican Party of Glen Rock is pleased to announce that Michelle Torpey has joined Eileen Maher Hillock as a candidate for Borough Council. Both candidates have extensive business experience and are very active leaders in Glen Rock.
Originally from Brooklyn, Eileen Maher Hillock is a 23-year Glen Rock resident, seasoned professional, proud wife and mom, and active community volunteer. Her extensive career includes Executive Director and Global Chief Risk Operations Officer for Morgan Stanley with a focus on operations, communications, contingency planning, and regulatory matters. While at Morgan Stanley, she implemented and managed numerous strategic programs and conducted nationwide events to improve and advance the risk management culture throughout the Retail Brokerage.
Eileen is a Trustee on the Glen Rock Board of Education and chaired the recent successful 5-Year Strategic Plan initiative, Vice President of the Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce, President of the Glen Rock Dog Park Inc., Co-Leader of Glen Rock Girl Scout Ambassador Troop 286, Past President of the GRJFA Cheerleading / Board Member of the Glen Rock Junior Football Associations, TIC TOC Art Docent, 22-year member of the Glen Rock Working Moms Playgroup, 2017 Grad Ball Publicity Chair and more.
She is a graduate of Pace University with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and a graduate of the Securities Institute Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
“I am running for Borough Council because I enjoy being an active participant in ‘making things happen,’ and no matter how good something is, there’s always room for improvement,” said Eileen ” I will work very hard to ensure all Glen Rockers – from our kids to our seniors – feel fairly heard and represented.”
Michelle Torpey is a 17-year resident of Glen Rock and a very active member of the community. Her career as a Pharmacist and Pharmacy District Manager for A&P Supermarket across New York and New Jersey has given Michelle great experience in listening to clients, supporting each community her stores served and managing a large work force. She possesses great operational expertise, which has proven useful in her local contributions. Over the past eight years, Michelle has been a stay-at-home mom to her three children and has immersed herself in local activities to support the Borough.
Some of Michelle’s volunteer activities include: President of Byrd School Home and School Association, Co-chairperson of Glen Rock’s Autism Awareness Committee, July 4th Parade Committee member, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, Past Federated School Board Member, as well as an active St. Catharine’s Church member as a CCD teacher, ministry leader and starting Middle School CYO.
Michelle is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy (Rx). She is a licensed Pharmacist in New York and New Jersey.
“I love Glen Rock and want to serve in a greater capacity as a member of the Borough Council” said Michelle. “In the past, my focus has been volunteering for activities involving Glen Rock’s youth. Now I look forward to using my professional skills and experience to make a more significant impact to benefit all residents.”
