It’s a Playoff Monday for Glen Rock High School as the boys and girls basketball teams and the hockey team all host state playoff games, with the basketball teams hosting a doubleheader at the high school and the hockey team playing after school in Hackensack.
The hockey team, seeded No. 1 in the Public B bracket, is up first, playing against No. 8 seed Summit in a third round game at 4:15 p.m. at the Ice House. Glen Rock (19-3-4) advanced with a 3-0 win over No. 16 Jackson Memorial on Friday, following a first-round bye. Summit (16-7-2) advanced with wins over No. 25 Hopewell Valley (7-0) and No. 9 Madison (2-0).
The girls basketball team (20-6) is the fifth seed in the North 1, Group 2 bracket and hosts No. 12 Ramsey (9-12) in a first round game at 5 p.m. The Panthers are led by senior Kelly Lohr, who this season became the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,245 career points, is averaging 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season. Fellow senior Elizabeth Alba adds 11.9 points per game, while junior point guard Allie Deneberg averages 4.4 points and 3.8 assists.
The boys are 15-9 and seeded sixth in North 1, Group 2. They host No. 11 seed High Point (9-14) in a first round game at 7 p.m. The Panthers are led by seniors Josh Frissora, Graham Reiss and Luke Nuzzo, and junior guard James Boisits.
If all three teams win, all will be in action again on Wednesday. The hockey team would be in the semifinals, against the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between No. 12 Point Pleasant Boro and No. 13 Middletown North. The girls basketball team would face the winner of No. 4 Mahwah and No. 13 Lenape Valley and the boys basketball team would face either No. 3 Newton or No. 14 Walkill Valley.
