12-13-2016

8:42 PM – Patrols responded with the Glen Rock Fire Department to a 9-1-1 report of a house fire on Pembroke Place.  Upon arrival a dryer on the first floor of the residence was found to be on fire.  Fire Chief Tom Jennings along with Sgt. Robert Wojtecki and P.O. Greg Carter began to bring the fire under control using fire extinguishers and a garden hose as fire trucks were arriving on scene.  The home sustained heavy smoke and water damage to the first floor.  Investigation also found that there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

11:58 AM – During the course of a motor vehicle stop P.O. John Tarantino arrested a 32-year-old Ringwood man for Possession of Marijuana under 50 Gram and possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia.  The man was processed at Police HQ released ROR pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court on January 17th, 2017. He was also issued a summonses for failure to give proper signal, unclear plates and possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle.

12:20 AM –  Sgt. Robert Wojtecki, P.O. Adam Pyatak and P.O. Lucas Doney responded with the Glen Rock Fire Department to a 9-1-1 report of a house fire on Harristown Road.  Upon arrival it was found that light fixtures on the second floor of the home were on fire.  Officers used a fire extinguisher to bring the fire under control pending the arrival of the fire department.  Glen Rock Fire Fighters completed firefighting operations and ensured the remainder of the residence was safe.  Only the second floor of the two family residence was damaged.

8:25 AM – A Highland Road resident reported that $425.03 in merchandise was charged to her closed Lord & Taylor Credit Card account.  The complainant was advised to contact Lord and Taylor directly in order to determine if there was a billing error or an actual act of fraud.  Credit card holders are not responsible for any charges made after a credit account has been closed.

3:26 PM Officers were dispatched to Hamilton Avenue near Rock Road where a 13-year-old Glen Rock male had been struck by a motor vehicle driven by a 42-year-old Glen Rock woman.  According to the driver, a witness and the youth himself, the young man crossed the street about 150 feet south of the crosswalk.  He was struck by the vehicle when he stepped out from behind another vehicle which was stopped in traffic.  A School Crossing Guard was on duty at nearby Rock Road and Hamilton Avenue at the time of the incident.

P.O. James Mc Gill was the investigating officer; no summonses were issued.

3:28 PM – P.O. Murray Yang, assisted by Ridgewood officers, investigated a report of a 12-year-old Glen Rock female who was struck by a motor vehicle on Thurston Terrace.  Investigation found that the girl had stepped out into traffic about 75 feet south of the crosswalk located at Thurston and Harristown.  She was struck by a vehicle driven by 71-year-old Glen Rock man.  No summonses were issued.

Both pedestrians were transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.

Pedestrians of all ages are reminded of the importance of using crosswalks and not to step into the street until there is a clearing in traffic.

12-15-2016

7:23 PM – A 42-year-old Glen Rock man was struck by a vehicle at Rock Road and Ackerman Avenue.  The pedestrian, a commuter who had just gotten of a NJ Transit Bus on Ackerman Avenue, was beginning to cross Rock Road as a vehicle was making a left turn from Ackerman onto Rock.  The driver, a 73-year-old Wayne man, did not see the pedestrian as he entered the crosswalk.  The pedestrian who suffered non-life threatening injuries was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.

Low light conditions and dark clothing are believed to have been contributing factor.  The responding officer did not witness the accident and no witnesses have been identified as of this time. No summonses have been issued.

12-16-2016

7:20 PM – Patrols responded to multiple 9-1-1 reports of an intoxicated male wandering in the area of Cranford and Crestwood knocking on residents’ doors.  The subject, a 36-year-old Glen Rock resident, was located by officers and returned to his home.
