GR Road work & PSE&G work
There has been a lot of sidewalk work done in the Borough this season. One of the things that is being done is updating all the sidewalk curbs and ramps to comply with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements. This is funded through Bergen County. Bergen County has hired a contractor to update all the sidewalk curbs to create or update ramps to comply with the ADA requirements.
The route for this improvement is that will start at Ackerman Ave. and Broad St. and will continue up Ackerman Ave. to Harristown Ave.. Work will then be on Harristown Ave. to Maple Ave.
At the end of the ramp / curb upgrades, Bergen County will repave the following streets:
- Harristown Road
- Ackerman Avenue
This work started on Tuesday, 5/26 and will continue for about 2 months.
Starting this week PSE&G will be replacing electric poles on Harristown Road, Ackerman Avenue, Prospect Street, and Saddle River Road. The poles currently on those roads will be replaced by 57 feet poles (which are approximately 10 to 15 higher than the current electric poles, but significantly shorter than the 80 foot poles that were installed on Maple Avenue a few years ago.)
Why are they being replaced?
“PSE&G is conducting statewide electric reliability improvements to upgrade its utility infrastructure. These enhancements will improve both electric service reliability and system redundancy to ensure safe and reliable electric service to our customers.”
Here is the memo from PSE&G regarding these upgrades.
This work will start this week and continue through the end of 2016. Please keep up to date with road detours and closures here on Banana Tree News (BTN).
